RE: preparing TT for possible hurricane

thanks for all the advice. as far as leaving, i cant do that. i am a GM of a local restaurant and have to look after the store also. we stayed for katrina and had power back in 4 days, 2 days at the store. i like the idea of moving the TT across the front of the house. there is will be on all grass and i can put ties in the ground. propane tanks are already topped off and so is the fresh water tank. we also have a 10 cases of bottle water along with 5 days of gas for the genny. i forgot to mention that the camper is 34ft long with a 9.5ft height and a weight of 7000lbs. if that really matters. thanks again....and wish us luck!!!

preparing TT for possible hurricane

we live in hattiesburg, ms which is only 70 miles from the water at gulfport, ms. during katrina, we had 100mph winds. i know the cone has moved a lil west now, but is there anything i can do to help secure my TT here at my house. it is parked in the front driveway, yard and is pointing in a NE direction, same direction my house points. i cant get it beside my house due to one side being sloped too much and the other is the drainage for the street and will never be able to get it out with all the water coming that way. right now i have slide closed and awning up. all stabilizers are down. i am hoping if the worse happens, the TT will be ok and we can live in it until we get power back, since i have a generator that will power the camper and enough gas for about 5 days. thanks for any help!!!

RE: 2008 Ford f250 with 5.4 and 4wd

there is a brand new 08 SD F250 Crew 4x4 lariat with the 5.4 on the dealer lot here loaded with everything including rear camera, just not the 20in wheels and it is sticker for $44k, but i bet you can get it for under $34k. it says with emp pricing and incentives down to $36k, but i bet you can get the extra $2k out of them......i would offer them about $25k for the one with 21k miles

RE: Big Guy and Light weight travel trailer...durability issues?

i have a surveyor 304le and i am 300lbs myself. only had the TT 2 months and so far i dont see any problems with the floor. i know what you mean about the king size bed, that is what i have at home, but the TT queen is plenty for the few nights at a time we camp. longest so far is a week and all 7 nights were very doable. just need to find a more comfortable mattress, but wasnt the issue. my main concern is when i purchase some maxxair vents, will the roof support me or will have i have to waste the money and pay someone to install them for me. i cant stand paying someone when i can do the job......

RE: Rear Differential Question for F-150 Owners

i would get under it to see exactly where it is coming from. could be the pinion seal and it runs down the housing to that side. or it could be what you said. would know til you know where it is coming from...

RE: New equalizer hitch?? Do I have a problem or is this normal

the friction of the bars on the "L" brackets is the sway control. if they are loose when connected there, then you do have a problem. but just simply moving them side to side when not on the "L" brackets is ok, but i would check the torque to be safe!!!

RE: television in 2009?

you can still get one of those converters and use them to get TV with your bat wing. campingworld sells them for $20 with the $40 coupon you can get from the Gov.

RE: did i weigh right???

Labman, Why can't you load the bikes in the truck? You have a 5.5 bed? What else is in the bed? I carry 4 full size bikes in a rack + propane + firewood. You also have another option.... you can make a rack for the top of the bed rails. This will get your weight off the back of your trailer. You still should not be getting any sway. Did you put any grease on the L brackets? Have you checked the torque on the head? Something isn't right. well i had 3 beach chairs, beach umbrella, kids beach toys, cooler, firewood, and our camping chairs. i do have a 5.5ft bed. i also have a trifold bed cover that keeps everything in and dry when it rains. when the dealer set up the hitch, they did grease the "L" brackets. i did have to readjust the hitch, just like everyone else that lets the dealer install, but i left the grease for the ride down, but i cleaned it off for the ride home and it didnt help. we go to the beach quite often, been 4 times already this year, but it was the first with the new TT, others times with the PUP. we were there a week and that is the first time we took bikes. most likely the only time we will take them is for the whole week. i only get 2 weeks a year for vacation so we take one in the summer and one in the winter, but the winter we will not take the bike since we go to the smokey's that time. i am hoping it is the tongue weight that is the issue. like was posted above, i didnt realize i was over my 7200# weight for my truck once me my wife and 2 kids get in with the diaper bags and personal stuff. so if i move some stuff from the bed of the truck to the front passthrough and take the bikes off, that will lighten my truck and add tongue weight. i am looking for a place to borrow and if i have to buy a sherline tongue scale so i can check it. i did add a washer in the head to put just a lil more weight to the front, i just feel nose high eventhough the measurements dont say it. i am going to try a test run tomorrow after work with the new set-up to see how it feels. thanks for all the help and keep it coming!!!

RE: did i weigh right???

yea i have seen those hitches and i really like the propride, but right now i really cant afford it. when i get the money, i will be getting it, just for the piece of mind and that you can move it from trailer to trailer. but right now, the equalizer is all i have and i need to get it as stable as possible. if i can get comfortable driving 60mph and i will be happy. thanks!!!
